Claim your profileThough a quick glance at my profile shows a broad range of accomplishments and activities -- writer, blogger, speaker, LGBT activist, mentor, educator, soccer coach, Westporter -- they’re all tied together by one thing: community. In everything I do -- writing and speaking about LGBT issues, coaching teenagers, coaching writers, telling stories of my hometown’s past and present (and wondering about its future) -- I try to bring people together. I seem to be many things. I write books about LGBT issues and sports, and newspaper columns about everything else. I blog about local history. I help companies and individuals communicate about themselves. I use soccer to teach life lessons (and yes, win games!). I do all of this at the local level, and on the national scene too. We are all many things. My life work -- and my joy -- involves bringing together many extraordinary individuals and groups. I feel fortunate to be connected in so many ways, while always seeking more opportunities to do what I love.
