Claim your profileI am a writer, reporter, editor, photographer, teacher in hibernation, and like to employ those characteristics in service of my community. I created my first newspaper when I was very nearly 10 years old. My best friend, Mike Ohl, and I wrote four pages on lined paper with some sort of rubber stamp alphabet. We only managed one edition before the rigors of the newspaper business wore us down. Or it was baseball season. I forget which. I created my second newspaper when was 55 after meandering around higher education and the news business for a few years. The Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle is still going 8 years later. Guess I caught my second wind. Or stopped playing baseball. One of those. I am interested now in finding an opportunity to put my writing and reporting experience to work in service of a good cause. I read as much antiracist literature as I can, and I'm interested in contributing to voting rights, defense of democracy and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Let me know if I can help.
