Claim your profileIntegrity and responsibility are the words I live by as a reporter. I stick to the facts and navigate each story I write with the necessary amounts of sensitivity. I graduated from American University with a bachelor’s degree in international studies with a minor in Asian studies in the spring of 2020. My studies during this time explored a wide range of topics, from youth education to the causes of war. Additionally, I studied abroad in China during the 2019 spring semester, which gave me the opportunity to explore another country despite having a limited grasp of the local language.During my college days, I worked in various internships that exposed me to different types of work environments and cultures. These included nonprofit and government organizations. I also interned at a law firm in China while studying abroad. Each position added a new batch of experiences and skills for me to take away, such as a non-American work environment at T&D Associates and how to use Microsoft Excel at the General Services Administration. My combined experiences and diverse schooling have developed me into a curious person who always looks for opportunities to improve. These traits push me to be a better journalist, with the capabilities to write factually even about topics I did not have a lot of knowledge about. My current news beats include issues surrounding the towns of West Tisbury and Aquinnah, the Martha’s Vineyard Airport, the Up-Island Regional School District, and climate change. I also write about other Martha’s Vineyard topics as needed. As I develop as a journalist, I hope to expand the topics I write about for stories, such as national politics and international security affairs.
