Claim your profileHi there, thank you for stopping by! I am an accomplished TV reporter and multimedia journalist (MMJ) with a genuine passion for the art of storytelling. Over the course of my seven-year career in broadcasting, I have earned two Regional Edward R. Murrow awards and four Midwest Emmy Awards for my stories, many of which I fully shot and edited. As a journalist who leads with empathy, I take pride in infusing my stories with heart and meaning, and shedding light on the people and communities behind the topics I'm covering. This has allowed me to forge deep connections with viewers. In 2023, I received a presitgious GLAAD Media Award nomination for reporting a story that served as a public coming-out announcement of transgender reporter Nora J.S. Reichardt to local news viewers. Reichardt was the first reporter in the nation to publicly transition to another gender, as on-air talent, at the same station. This story also earned at 2023 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion reporting.A news series I wrote, shot, and edited on refugee communities disproportionately impacted by an inland hurricane in Iowa earned a 2021 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award. In the four-part series, "The Disaster Divide," I spent a week filming dawn to dusk with families who were living in tents nearly a week after the derecho storm passed through, in August 2020.Prior to earning my Master of Science in Documentary at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, I spent seven years in New York City as a freelance producer, musician (jazz saxophone) and improv/sketch comedy performer. Honing my individual and group performance skills in the theatre capital of the US over the course of seven years allowed me to hit the ground running once I entered the field of journalism. When I'm not reporting, I'm performing jazz saxophone around the Twin Cities or attending cultural, community events.
