She previously reported for NPR, as a breaking news reporter, and The New York Times, where she covered national news and education as a 2021-2022 fellow. She also interned at POLITICO, where she reported on criminal justice reform in Florida, and CNN, where she wrote for its Culture & Trends team. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Hussman School of Journalism and Media, where she was a fully funded Roy H. Park Fellow. While a student, she also received the Tom Wicker and Outstanding M.A. Student awards in 2020 and 2021, respectively. She is also a recipient of the 2021 Student Journalist of the Year Award, from the National Association of Black Journalists, and the Curve Award for Emerging Journalists from the National Association of LGBTQ Journalists.
