Based in London, I cover the global economy and multinational companies for CNN Business. With over a decade of experience as a financial journalist across print, digital and broadcast media, I built my career at South Africa's leading business publications covering the financial services sector — from banking and insurance to asset management, capital markets, hedge funds, private equity and fintech. I was part of a team of journalists from Business Day and the Sunday Times that won the Print News Vodacom Journalist of the Year Award (2017) for a series of articles exposing widespread corruption in South Africa's public and private sectors under the Jacob Zuma presidency. I won Profile Writer of the Year among trade titles (PICA Award, Magazine Publishing Association of SA) for a piece on then Lloyd's of London CEO, Richard Ward and was joint winner of a Discovery Health Journalism Award in the Best Analysis and Commentary category in 2012 for a piece analysing SA's touted National Health Insurance. I am curious about the world around me and passionate about journalism’s role in shaping and influencing it.
