Claim your profileI'm a music journalist who manifested (and accomplished) writing my first-ever magazine cover story about The Weeknd at age 24. It wasn't rocket science, but speaking of which, I earned a Hearst nomination for an online college magazine story about rocket science before I graduated from USC. Science proves that concerts make people happier, so I try to explore music in its live and most innovative forms to thoughtfully write stories surrounding this industry. I love writing about music so much that writing even feels like making music to me. I feel my fingers glide across the keyboard like it's a keyboard, and the words I write transform into lyrics by how they flow. As a Black woman with Ethiopian immigrant parents, I love that storytelling has the power to amplify the voices of those who are often disregarded, including, but not limited to, women, POC and LGBTQIA+ people. And those are the very people who get to be front and center of the stories I write. My inclusion emphasis, strong writing background and vast entertainment industry network are valuable assets to a media company trying to appeal to diverse audiences yearning to learn more about all things music and culture. BuzzFeed-certified Zac Efron expert, LeBron James-affirmed storyteller and Janelle Monáe-appointed “cool cat”
