I'm currently a by-lined contributor to the Sunday Times, Financial Times, Telegraph, City A.M., GQ and others, and consult for a limited number of non-conflicting PR and comms agencies, PR: Involved in Covid-19 behavioural data messaging with an NHS tech partner; previously media lead in the law-changing Billy Caldwell medicinal cannabis campaign in the UK; handled media in a dispute between US billionaires Alain Cohen and Elon Musk. Historically, was PR to John Caudwell - founder of Phones 4u, and now a leading philanthropist - for more than 20 years, to Bruce Dickinson, singer with rock band Iron Maiden, on his non-music activities for 12 years, and for several years with Pensions Minister Baroness Dr Ros Altmann. Involved in HS2 lobbying. Instrumental in driving through philanthropic support for the Bomber Command Memorial, and part of the floor management team on the day which involved the biggest-ever gathering of Royal family members. Reputation management: phone hacking, and several major issues that will hopefully now never see the light of day.Past clients include Barclays, Manchester United, England Rugby Union, Saga, BMW, Enterprise Inns plc, Grand Met, Phones 4u, Unipart, Lufthansa, Icelandair, M&S amongst many. I'm also involved in image protection and crisis communications, plus litigation support activities, as well as political PR at central government level related primarily to education, social affairs, transport and health and have worked with the Home Office, DCMS and the MoD, the US Department for Homeland Security, and the Irish Government's Department for Environment, Community and Local Government.Former journalist to national newspaper level, plus radio experience. I come from a family of journalists - father is F1 writer Ted Macauley.Interests: I used to race cars and instruct on race tracks; I restore classic motorcycles, and ride modern trials bikes, Supermotos and sports bikes.
