With more than 25 years’ in journalism, he has a deep interest in industry development policy related to information technology, innovation and tech-enabled startups in Australia.James set-up the online publication InnovationAus.com in 2015 with Corrie McLeod to cover these industry development policy issues. InnovationAus has grown to employ four journalists, as well as a variety of back office support staff. James began his career as a reporter in trade publishing. He has spent long stints in senior reporting and editing roles at the South China Morning Post, InformationWeek, and The Australian and has been based in bureaus in Hongkong, Sydney. Melbourne, and Canberra. He has also spent time as a government relations consultant, including a role as Director of Government Relations and Protocol for the global trade fair group Deutsche Messe’s subsidiary in Australia.
