Based in Washington DC, Javier Vega is a Mexican journalist with more than fifteen years of experience in national and international media. He currently reports for Telemundo Network from the White House, the Supreme Court and Capitol Hill. Throughout his career, he has secured interviews with dozens of prestigious officials and US representatives, as well as top Latin-American politicians such as the former president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro. He began his profession as a local reporter at Televisa Puebla, an affiliate of the largest television network in Hispanic America. Later, he became an investigative journalist at Televisa’s headquarters in Mexico City, where he produced stories about politics, corruption, crime and social issues. He did the same for Milenio Televisión, the leading news channel in Mexico, where he also anchored primetime newscasts. In 2009, Vega won the National Journalism Prize awarded by the “Club de Periodistas de México A.C.”, and was part of the team awarded the National Communication Prize “José Pagés Llergo” for its coverage of the 2017 Mexico City’s earthquake.
