I've spent the past three decades in journalism -- ten years at the Village Voice, New York City's late, lamented premiere alt-weekly; ten years at the Austin American-Statesman, Austin's daily newspaper; and nine years and counting at Texas Monthly, "The National Magazine of Texas," currently as the number two person on the editorial masthead. Over the course of that time I have developed writers who have gone on to great things, worked with award-winning journalists and essayists, and written and edited virtually every kind of story you can imagine. I am an exacting line editor who comes up with novel ideas and can put together inspiring and eye-catching packages. I am also a skilled manager who inspires staffers to do their best work.
