With nearly 20 years’ experience in publishing, I help experts communicate complex ideas in engaging ways. Whether reporting live from a medical conference, interviewing researchers about their work, or detailing assignments to staff writers, my goal is to make cutting edge health care information immediately useful to clinicians and consumers. I discovered a talent in graduate school for writing clearly about technical topics and for helping others to communicate successfully. I moved naturally from the academy to academic publishing and later to health care journalism. I’ve always believed that effective communication is audience centered. Complex arguments presented in clear, concise prose or tight, lively video can hold a reader’s or viewer’s attention, which benefits both the expert and the audience. Yes, I think about every word — and how they fit together to make an engaging whole.My objective is producing informative, attractive and financially successful publications and activities across platforms.
