Claim your profileI am an award-winning writer and editor with 15 years of journalism experience, currently freelancing as I search for a full-time editing job. But I have also built and renovated houses, coached championship fencing teams, and climbed all 86 flights of stairs in the Empire State Building. I’m who my friends call for DIY advice, and I delight in solving problems—often in unconventional ways. Ask me about the time I was literally up a river without a paddle, or the day I launched a minivan into a faux gravitational slingshot maneuver around a suburban home. Most recently, I led Popular Science magazine’s broad service journalism vertical and was part of the team that won a 2022 ASME award for best single-topic issue. As DIY editor, I wrote and edited how-tos and evergreen explainers that covered countless topics and drew a large amount of search traffic to our website. I established update procedures and learned SEO strategies to help ensure PopSci’s excellent articles always showed up when people needed them. By the end of my time there, our stories were basically guaranteed first-page placement on Google, and we did so without sacrificing quality or the magazine’s unique editorial voice. I’m open to any full-time editing roles, but am especially interested in leading, reviving, or building a vertical of my own. I am also considering SEO-focused roles involving maintaining, optimizing, updating, and crafting an effective strategy around new and existing digital content, whether it’s news or evergreen. Please feel free to connect or send me a message if you think I’d be a good fit for your team.
