Claim your profileI'm an award-winning Guardian writer now focusing on European affairs, features and long-form reportage.My reporting using Twitter to uncover and tell the stories of real people in Greece and southern Europe during the financial and economic crisis won widespread recognition and was shortlisted for several digital innovation awards.I also wrote Firestorm, a groundbreaking, internationally acclaimed Guardian multimedia interactive about bushfires and climate change in Australia that was shown in documentary film festivals worldwide and won the 2013 Walkley award for multimedia storytelling.From 1990 to 2006 I was a foreign correspondent working for the Associated Press, the International Herald Tribune and the Guardian based in Amsterdam, Brussels, Helsinki and finally Paris, where I was the Guardian's bureau chief for nearly 10 years.
