I write a weekly newsletter on global education, Latitudes. In additon to covering international education, worldwide student mobility, and the globalization of higher education, I also regularly write about the intersection between education, economics, and culture. A frequent speaker on international education, I also am a research associate at the Center for Higher Education Studies at the University of California at Berkeley and an education leadership fellow at the University at Albany. I'm a recipient of the East-West Center’s Jefferson Fellowship for reporting in Asia and the International Reporting Project fellowship, and my work has been honored by the Education Writers Association, the National Press Foundation, and the Poynter Institute. My extensive coverage of the phenomenon of Chinese students in America has recently been collected in a special report, “Chinese Journey.”
