Whether breaking a story as an investigative reporter or representing the station at the many functions she attends across Georgia, Karyn Greer’s enthusiasm is her trademark.Karyn knew early on that she wanted a career in broadcast journalism. Even though those around her discouraged her saying her athletic, track-star looks weren’t glamorous enough for an on-air career, she persevered, and landed her first job at a small station in Southern Illinois. Hard work, passion and personality took her from Illinois to Charleston (WCSC) and then to Atlanta as the evening news anchor at WGNX-TV (now WGCL TV) After 10 years at WGNX, she crossed the street and became part of 11Alive’s news family for 15 years. Serving as weekend anchor and then morning and noon anchor. As we all know our steps are directed, and after 15 years, Karyn returned to the station that brought her to Atlanta..CBS46. She is now proud to start her latest chapter in broadcasting at WSB TV as an evening anchor. But her on-air talent is just part of the story. She has saved lives by encouraging thousands of women to perform monthly breast exams as the face for Buddy Check while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for breast cancer organizations including the American Cancer Society. Karyn currently serves on the board of Pebbletossers, s non profit dedicated to encouraging families and youth to volunteer and give back. Her hands-on community involvement includes serving as president of the Atlanta Press Club as well as serving on the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences. She continues to be named one of Atlanta’s 100 Women of Influence by the Atlanta Business League.She’s a multiple Emmy award winner, a member of the Magnolia chapter of The Links Inc. that mentors and provides scholarships for underprivileged youth, she is a chartering member of the Greater North Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc...to name just a few.
