Katie Fongvongsa is recent graduate of Syracuse University. After transferring from the University of Minnesota in 2021, she has earned her B.A. Dual Degree in Broadcast & Digital Journalism and Political Science.In her time at SU, she has held multiple roles at the entirely student-run news station CitrusTV and has held three newsroom internships. Since joining the organization, Katie began as an associate producer for Live at 6, which is a full 30-minute newscast. She also became a Political Analyst for Talking Points. Since 2021, she was a day reporter, a weather anchor, and an anchor. Throughout the summers and the fall of 2023, Katie interned at two Minnesota news outlets. In the summer of 2022, she worked as a news intern for KAAL-TV in Rochester. There she developed her ability to shoot, edit, and write VOSOTs as well as writing web articles. In 2023, Katie was the digital news intern where she gained invaluable experiences to solidify shooting video, putting together a reel, and helping out with CBSN content. She also led a drone project for the 24/7 streaming platform for CBSN. Katie assisted in the web department by working on a Juneteenth article and a July Fourth article including the entire DMA, as well as sidebar stories. In the fall of 2024, Katie was in the Newhouse NYC program and interned with Decider.com where she delved into the entertainment streaming world and wrote list-style long-form stories.
