In 2023, the Society for Features Journalism recognized his piece on a peripatetic independent baseball team's struggles with first place distinction, and judges called the story "an eloquent argument for long-form sports journalism.” In 2019, the Society of the Silurians honored his feature on the F.B.I.'s probe of corruption in college basketball with the Medallion Award. In 2018, he received the National Headliner Award for best sports writing portfolio. His explanatory pieces, visual storytelling, event coverage and investigative narratives have been recognized by the New York Press Club, Society of Professional Journalists, Education Writers Association, Associated Press Sports Editors and The Best American Sports Writing.
