Claim your profileI am Bloomberg’s Global Head of Editorial Standards and the newsroom leader of all training and talent initiatives. After more than 30 years at Bloomberg, most of that time running big global reporting teams, my main focus now is on building a more inclusive workforce, at every level, and delivering more inclusive content, across every platform, to ensure our news reporting is fair, balanced, accurate and complete. In early 2018, I founded the Bloomberg New Voices program, a global initiative to raise the visibility of underrepresented executives across our media platforms. The program includes a growing database of more than 10000 female experts in business and finance, tracking tools to hold journalists accountable for broadening their sourcing and Bloomberg-sponsored intensive media training for senior women in finance in every region of the world. New Voices has helped more than triple representation of female expert guests on Bloomberg TV since 2018 and spurred the newsroom to keep diversifying sourcing more generally. I joined Bloomberg in 1993 in Prague and was charged with establishing news operations in Eastern Europe and Russia, hiring the initial local staff, opening the original bureaus and overseeing news coverage. In 1995, I was part of a team that won Bloomberg’s first Oversea Press Club award for a series on global prime bank guarantee fraud involving a Czech bank. In 1998 I moved to Moscow and helped lead coverage of Russia’s default, devaluation and subsequent economic collapse and recovery. Upon moving back to the US in 2001 I took on managing coverage for all of our Latin American bureaus and later launched the newsroom’s first global emerging markets team. My responsibilities grew to running all of our beat reporting teams globally, managing at one point more than 800 journalists around the world. As a longtime senior executive at Bloomberg, I value the chance to help build the newsroom of the future with a staff that reflects the world we cover. I am proud to serve as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and on advisory boards of The Center for Inclusive Leadership in Media and the Princeton University Press Club. The inspiration for all I do are my two adult kids, Sasha and Katya, who are both artists living in NY and LA.
