Madeline has reported on the ground during news events that have made national headlines. She was recently sent to cover Hurricane Idalia as part of a Scripps News jump team. She investigated how cartels changed tactics to traffic drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border during the COVID-19 pandemic. She interviewed presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke at the site of the Walmart mass shooting. Madeline has been nominated for two regional EMMY awards. In 2022, she won 'Best Feature Story' and 'Best News Story' in the Greater Cincinnati Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. She won a Texas Associated Press Broadcasters award in 2019 for spot news coverage during the El Paso Walmart mass shooting. She won an Award of Excellence in the Broadcast Education Association competition for her reporting on the ground after the death of rapper Nipsey Hussle.
