The Current, a local reporting partner for ProPublica, was named best digital newsroom in the Southeast by the Society of Professional Journalists. Its data-driven journalism has helped change Georgia state law, uncover historic bias in county police forces and saved Georgia taxpayers tens of millions of dollars. A Pulitzer Prize finalist, Margaret formerly worked at The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, where she covered counterterrorism, corruption and threats to democracy. Her book — The Spymaster of Baghdad — revealed an in-depth look at Iraqi intelligence operations during the battle against the Islamic State.
