Claim your profileMatt Stevens is a general assignment reporter on the Culture desk of The New York Times. He previously covered the 2020 campaign and election on The Times' Politics desk and worked on breaking news as part of The Times' Express Team. Before coming to The Times, he was a reporter at The Los Angeles Times, where he wrote about California's drought and covered the city's Westside as a Metro reporter. While in Los Angeles, he frequently contributed to live coverage of major breaking news; he was part of L.A. Times teams that were honored for their reporting on a manhunt, mass shooting and the San Bernardino terror attack. A San Diego native, Matt worked as a sports reporter in college on the UCLA Daily Bruin. He is also a former member of the Asian American Journalists Association's governing board, and has written about Asian American issues and his own adoption.
