About

My name is Neel Madhavan, and I am currently a sports reporter for the Tribune Chronicle and The Vindicator daily newspapers in Warren and Youngstown, Ohio. I'm currently the Youngstown State football and men's and women's basketball beat reporter, but I still continue to cover high school sports across the Mahoning Valley, as well. In my previous position, I served as the sports editor for the Richmond County Daily Journal and the Laurinburg Exchange newspapers in North Carolina. During my career, I have also worked as a student reporter for Medill Reports Chicago, a multimedia reporter for the Dominion Post, a sports writer for the Daily Athenaeum, a sports intern for the Observer-Reporter and a communications intern for University Relations-Communications at WVU. I completed my Master of Science degree in Journalism, specializing in sports media, at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. In undergrad, I attended the Reed College of Media at West Virginia University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism, including a minor in Business Administration. Throughout the course of my professional endeavors, I have gained experience covering high school, college and professional sports. I used to work as a beat reporter covering a variety of college sports, including Northwestern women’s tennis and WVU football, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s tennis, men’s golf and men’s club hockey. I also have experience reporting on the men’s NCAA tournament, the Big Ten men’s basketball tournament, The Basketball Tournament (TBT), Chicago White Sox, the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, the Los Angeles Clippers, the LA Kings and the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open.
