She is currently an assistant editor with openDemocracy's Tracking the Backlash team, helping to launch Francophone West Africa coverage and commissioning West African journalists to report on women's and LGBTIQ people's sexual and reproductive rights. Previously, Portia was a correspondent for the Dow Jones publication Financial News in London and a senior reporter for Business Insider in New York.
