Ramona Depares is an award-winning journalist and author, and the winner of Best in Arts & Culture at the Istitut tal-Ġurnalisti Maltin 2025 Press Awards, for the in-depth feature Maltese Theatre Has A Longevity Problem: Can It Be Fixed? During the same awards, she was also 1st Runner Up in the category of Journalism Promoting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with her in-depth piece ‘The Should Be No Room To Question Accessibility in Maltese Theatre’. Ramona works as a freelance journalist and editor. She is the editor of Encore Arts & Culture Magazine and also runs her own culture and lifestyle website - https://ramonadepares.com. Ramona is also the author of three best-selling books. The first two - Beltin: Stejjer Minn Nies Minsija and The Patient in Hospital Zero - were published under the Merlin Publishers imprint. The third book, Katya: Easy on the Tonic, is a biography of one of Malta’s first openly transgender women, which was commissioned by MGRM (Malta). Her creative work has also appeared on international publications such as IHRAM’s The Feminine Voice of Malta and Beyond Worlds, among others.
