About to clock up 26 years working in horse racing journalism, through 17 at News Limited and my current role in media and communications at Racing NSW. From 2000-2017 I have worked in the horse racing department of the Daily Telegraph/Sportsman in Sydney mixing production work with editorial. Decided to move further into the specialist horse racing journalism in 2007 by joining Sportsman, Australia's first national horse racing newspaper, which is located within the Telegraph office. Work there focused on determining and writing the majority of the editorial content and a lot of management of the paper's production including editorial layout, statistics and handling most reader inquiries regarding the content. From a PR perspective, I attended race meetings, both local and interstate, and racing functions as a representative from Sportsman. Established and managed the Sportsman's social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter). In 2017 I accepted a role within Racing NSW's media and marketing department, where I produce a large amount of editorial content for the website as well as provide feature articles for RNSW magazine, and race analysis as well as social media content.
