Claim your profileI'm the Director of the Centre for Policy Studies (www.cps.org.uk), Britain's leading centre-right think tank, as well as Editor-in-Chief of its CapX media arm (www.capx.co) and more recently a political columnist for The Sunday Times. I currently serve as an Advisor to JCB Group and was preciously an Expert Member of the Department for International Trade's Strategic Trade Advisory Group (STAG). In December 2019, I took a leave of absence from the CPS to work as one of the co-authors of the Conservative election manifesto. I'm also the author of 'The Great Acceleration' (Bloomsbury), a critically acclaimed book about how technology is accelerating the pace of life. Previously I was Editor of CapX; BuzzFeed UK's first news director, overseeing its coverage of the 2015 election and commissioning the investigation into Kids Company; and spent a decade at the Telegraph, where I ran the comment department and science pages, among many other roles. I've also written about politics, policy, science and culture for a wide variety of publications, including The Wall Street Journal, WIRED, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Financial Times, The Spectator, The Sun, The Independent, The Guardian, Politico and many, many others. I also fundraise and campaign to support research into auto-immune hepatitis, via the Medical Research Foundation charity.
