Russell Powell (she/her) specializes in public relations and media management for lifestyle and hospitality clients. Her expertise includes press outreach, editorial placements, brand development, and reputation management. Throughout her career, Russell has managed a diverse portfolio of clients and garnered premier press coverage for each, including placements in: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, VOGUE, Forbes, Fast Company, Architectural Digest, Covey Rise, Condé Nast Traveler, USA Today, Travel + Leisure, Los Angeles Times, Town & Country, and more. Prior to launching R. Powell PR in 2016, Russell spent years at Lou Hammond Group as an Account Supervisor, managing all public relations efforts for accounts like Red Mountain Resort (St. George, Utah), Certified Angus Beef, Tourism Saint Barthélemy, Pink Sands Resort (Harbour Island, Bahamas), and Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (Canada). Prior to LHG, Russell worked at Amazon’s self-publishing division, CreateSpace, in account management, reporting directly to the Kindle Direct Publishing team in Seattle. She also spent five years in New York City, first at ELLE magazine and then moving to Gilt Groupe, an e-commerce fashion startup. Russell was at Gilt for three years, starting out as a merchandising assistant and working her way up to a management position where she played a major role in launching, establishing, and managing all luxury sales for Gilt City nationally. Born in Greenville, S.C., Russell grew up in Galivants Ferry, S.C. and later attended the College of Charleston, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Communications and Media Studies. She spent both her sophomore and junior year summers interning at Condé Nast Publications in New York City before moving to Manhattan full-time after college graduation.
