Sarah is an award-winning journalist and writer. She helped launch and currently is the sole staff news writer for TLDR, a business and finance newsletter owned by Wealthsimple Media that is read by more than 1.85 million Canadians each week. She's also a co-host of the TLDR podcast, one of the top business podcasts in the country. She won a Radio Television Digital News Association Canada award for her investigations into the conditions workers faced during the pandemic at two Alberta slaughterhouses at CBC. Among the more than 3,000 stories she's reported was her investigations, alongside a colleague, into the use of facial recognition at shopping centres, which led to findings from both provincial and federal privacy commissioners that the corporation was improperly collecting personal, sensitive biometric information with customers' consent, and to the data collection program being ordered to shut down. Her coverage focuses on money, labour, tech, and the environment — and above all, the ramifications of all those things on human lives.
