I am a communications professional with more than 20 years of experience. I've covered everything from the Iowa Caucuses to colorful feature stories. My strengths lie in un-scripted breaking news, live interviews, and creative writing. There isn't a live situation I can't handle. I strive daily to find the human angle of every story and I always come prepared. Over the years, I've naturally segued into a leadership role in the newsroom and thoroughly enjoy coaching and mentoring the next generation of journalists. At times, I've been asked to coach new managers. Recently, I've added shooting and editing into my regular skills, which has opened even more opportunities to tell great stories in my community. I believe the human connection is not only at the heart of every great story, it is the hallmark of a great newsroom. Skills include writing for a variety of audiences; producing creative content across multiple platforms; managing teams and working collaboratively with internal and external partners; coaching on-air talent; shooting and editing; leading the newsroom; recruiting; enterprising daily and long-form stories. I bring energy, humor, passion, ethics, and empathy to the newsroom.
