Steven has shaped communications strategies for dozens of enterprises and crafted more than a thousand stories--from the U.S. and overseas--on everything from business and economics, to urban affairs and politics, to education and science, to travel and art. His book about Lee Harvey Oswald, "The Gunman and His Mother," released in 2013, was a best-selling Amazon Kindle Single. His previous book, the widely covered "Adrift: Charting Our Course Back to a Great Nation," was published by Prometheus Books in 2011. In addition, he writes and publishes the popular Substack newsletter, "America, America," focused on politics and society, democracy and justice. In the last year, Beschloss became an adjunct professor at New York University for the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute teaching graduate students. In his previous role at Arizona State University, he directed the Narrative Storytelling Initiative; served as a professor of practice at the College of Global Futures and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication: led Narratives for the Global Futures Laboratory; edited and published "Transformations," an online magazine of personal essays and independent publishing channel of the Los Angeles Review of Books; and taught writing workshops for faculty across ASU and beyond. What defines all this work is a belief in the power of storytelling, a commitment to ideas and thought leadership, and a focus on innovation and creativity. He also has contributed to dozens of outlets and media organizations (print and online), including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, The New Republic, Smithsonian, Parade, National Geographic, The Economist Group, Village Voice, Times Higher Education, San Francisco Chronicle, Newsday, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Variety and Entrepreneur.
