Susan’s reporting during Hurricane Katrina led CNN to hire her as the first CNN Correspondent in the network's Gulf Coast Bureau, which opened in New Orleans in December 2005. In 2007, she became a CNN Correspondent in Chicago, covering stories across the nation for two more years. Susan also has been a prime-time local television anchor, a co-host on the National Geographic Channel based in Washington, D.C., and a reporter for National Public Radio.
