Sports has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember and it has only grown over the last few years being a public relations/communications intern with the Charlotte Bobcats of the NBA, working in the South Dakota State University sports information department for four and a half years and going to Nashville to work in the SID office at Tennessee State. I currently work at KORN-AM 1490 in Mitchell, South Dakota. They say that it is rare to find a career that you enjoy so much that it doesn’t feel like work and that’s what I have found.My wide range of experience as part of the media as well as in media relations has given me a great perspective of both sides of the fence. Besides working in the SID office, I have also had my hands in all different forms of media. Whether it is writing for the school paper for five years, co-hosting a weekly sports radio talk show or working on numerous television shows, including starting a sports talk show that ran for a full year..I received my bachelor’s degree in Broadcast/Journalism from SDSU in Brookings in May of 2010 and graduated from SDSU in May 2012 with a master’s in Sports Pedagogy. My undergraduate degree helped me develop as a writer, broadcaster and opened up a ton of opportunities to see how the business works, while my graduate work has focused on current trends in athletics.
