I'm writing an article for Blavity Health on why Black life expectancy still trails other groups in the U.S. and what can close the gap. I'm looking for one or two experts to quote. Ideal sources include physicians, public health researchers, epidemiologists, or community health leaders, especially those focused on Black health, health equity, or chronic disease prevention. I'd love a few sentences on any of these: What's the most misunderstood driver of the Black-white life expectancy gap? How do structural factors (access to care, segregation, chronic stress/"weathering") show up in your patients or research? What practical steps can Black readers take now, and where does individual action stop and policy need to take over? What gives you hope that the gap can close?
