Claim your profileI'm a business journalist covering cloud computing and the channel partner programs of IBM, Microsoft, Red Hat, Oracle, Citrix and Salesforce. I've written about startup fundraising rounds, mergers and acquisitions, layoffs, game-based learning and workplace training. I take complex topics and terms and simplify them into stories anyone can digest. This includes navigating bowls of alphabet soup that include acronyms like OPM, SIS, MOOC and SEL. I was one of the first journalists on the Las Vegas Strip to cover the Route 91 Harvest mass shooting. I've since covered the impact of Oct. 1, 2017, on the survivors and locals, with particular interest in business, legislative and health implications. I've also written about the history of the shooter and ongoing developments with his estate. I wrote about crime in Gaston County, North Carolina, most notably covering the death of Jordyn Dumont, the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott by a police officer and the teenager who received illicit messages from former Congressman Anthony Weiner during the 2016 election, which had ramifications for the Hillary Clinton campaign. I've used public records and interviewing skills to break news, explain trends and write compelling feature articles about industries including retail, marijuana, manufacturing, tourism, sports, finance technology and restaurants. Every day, I'm reminded of how grateful I feel to work in journalism, a business that has taken me from gun activists in Idaho to startup culture in Tampa to the textiles of the Charlotte area and the casinos of Las Vegas.
