I am currently Senior Vice President of Content and Editor-in-Chief at Hearst Connecticut Media Group, where I lead newsrooms at 30 newspapers, 16 websites and Connecticut Magazine. Our newsroom staff won hundreds of local journalism awards in recent years, and were recognized nationally and internally this year for their freedom of information and investigative journalism.HCMG is nearing 100k total (print and digital) subscriptions. Growth in recent years helped spur the launch of Connecticut’s new statewide news source, CTInsider.com. I’m the executive sponsor of HCMG’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, and a member of Hearst Newspapers Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Steering Committee. I am also on Columbia Journalism School’s Board of Visitors.In previous roles, I led editorial, marketing, circulation and customer services at Brunswick News Inc., a role believed to be a global first for an EIC. It was during this time the newsroom was awarded the highest honor in Canadian journalism, the Michener Award, for a landmark investigation. My experience spans local, regional and national media organizations in three different countries – the U.K., Canada and U.S. Former roles include Toronto Star Assistant Managing Editor, Toronto Sun and Ottawa Sun Editor-in-Chief / Sun Media Regional Content Director, Toronto and Daily Record Assistant News Editor.I was the first woman in history to become EIC at the Toronto Sun, at which time I was also named one of the top 10 leading women to watch in media across North America by Editor & Publisher. I am also a regular speaker on digital journalism and subscriber growth, most notably with the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers and the World News Media Congress.
