Claim your profileI’m a staff writer at the Atlantic's science desk, covering health and the future of food. Previously, I was a science editor and writer with work published in the New Yorker, the New York Times, the Guardian, Vox, Slate, Bon Appétit, and others. Previously, I was the lead editor of the Medium Coronavirus Blog and founding editor of Future Human, a site about science and the future. I was also a senior editor at the health site Elemental and the tech site OneZero. Before that, I was the senior science editor at Inverse. I grew up in Toronto, received a degree in human biology and English literature at the University of Toronto, then graduated from New York University with a Masters in biology, where I studied developmental genetics. I have been a guest on Science Friday, the Brian Lehrer Show, CES, SXSW, Newsy, and Cheddar and was featured on the Vox Daily Dive podcast and the feminist podcast Nevertheless She Existed. Prior to working as a journalist, I worked with Nature Publishing Group as a copy editor at Nature Chemical Biology.
