Hello! I am a freelance visual journalist, information designer and motion+3D artist with two decades of experience telling stories in digital and physical spaces. For the past nine years, I worked as a Graphics and Multimedia Editor at The New York Times, where I reported, developed, designed and produced visual stories. My work included investigations into war crimes and human rights abuses using data, archival materials and OSINT as well as reporting on urgent topics in science, public health and climate change. I designed and produced a wide range of visual narratives from 3D reconstructions, to infographic explainers and illustrated data stories. I pioneered several emerging technologies in the NYT newsroom, including 360 Video, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and 3D Web. Before joining The Times in 2014, I worked as a motion designer, storyteller and researcher, creating interactive experiences, spatial installations and linear animations for museums, advertising and animated children’s TV series. My favorite projects include exhibits at the 9/11 Memorial Museum (New York), American Museum of Natural History (New York) National Museum of American Jewish History (Philadelphia) and the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center (Moscow, Russia). Creating digital illustrations for the first season of Wonder Pets (an animated children’s TV series) is one of my most treasured professional experiences! I teach graduate and undergraduate courses and workshops in visual journalism, motion graphics and animation. My personal art practice is focused on illustration and animation projects.
